Hi, my name is Gary Reynolds. I was born and grew up in Texas. I moved to New Mexico in 1991 and settled in the East Mountains Range of Tijeras. I learned to play the guitar at the age of nine years old. I am a lefty, but Dad insisted I play with my right hand. It was the only way he knew how to teach me to play. These days I play many instruments, including rhythm and bass guitar, banjo, harmonica and drums. The artists that influenced me most were John Denver, Michael Martin Murphey and Neil Young. I performed with Bruce Channel in the '70s. Bruce wrote and sang the number one hit "Hey Babe," in 1961. He was one of my mentors. Finally, I sing and write...both lyrics and music. I was selected as a finalist in the NMMA New Mexico Music Awards in 2006 for writing, singing and recording "Red River Glow." My song . "Flying High Like And Eagle" is is going to be included on a compilation CD, "Son Of The Best Of New Mexico Western!"with other New Mexico artists. I grew up in my 20's entertaining in many western Opries and bars in Texas. Since then I have entertained all over the states of Texas, Oklahoma, Colorado and New Mexico. Of all the places I've been, I love New Mexico and the New Mexico audiences the best. |
