Greetings from the R.O.R. We are those who are dedicated to the Royal Order of Rabbits. We believe in the everlasting sound that comes from our Saints, Gram Rabbit.

To become part of The Order, one must submit to the SOUND. You must clear your mind of what you beLIEve. And you must be willing to dance in the moonlight, by the fire, in the houses of worship.

The Rabbits, descended from the cosmic corners of the expansive universe, are our salvation. Through the Royal Order, all things are possible.

“Everybody wants to party in the desert…”

"Gram Rabbit prepare to win over scores of new fans across the globe with latest release, Miracles & Metaphors."

To understand the diverse and richly textured landscape of Gram Rabbit’s sweeping new release, Miracles & Metaphors, you have to go back to the beginning – way back to the good old days of 2004.
That’s when a couple of crazy kids, Jesika von Rabbit and Todd Rutherford, were inspired by the unique environs of Joshua Tree, Calif., to take all of their favorite things about music and bake them in the desert heat. The result was GR’s debut, Music to Start a Cult To, and from the very first note it was clear they’d created something out of the ordinary.
The band’s trippy blend of desert twang (partially inspired, no doubt, by their love for the music of Gram Parsons), good old-fashioned rock, relentless dance grooves and just a touch of psychedelic spaciness soon earned them legions of followers in Southern California.
That fanbase, dubbed the Royal Order of Rabbits, grew quickly and now counts among its numbers believers like John Cusack and Scarlet Johannson. Even LA Weekly joined the pack, naming Gram Rabbit the best new L.A. Band of 2005.
Fortunately for the faithful, the music of the Rabbits grew along with their numbers, and each subsequent release brought forth new delights, from the playfully dark imagery of songs like “Bloody Bunnies” on 2006’s Cultivation to the culturally searing, but booty shaking “While the Rest of Us Sleep” on 2007’s RadioAngel and The RobotBeat.
RadioAngel also marked the beginning of the group’s relationship with the third part of its live triumvirate, guitarist and producer Ethan Allen (The 88, Luscious Jackson, Patti Griffin), who soon became a full-time touring Rabbit.
All the while, the band was working hard to attract converts with the multi-media extravaganza of its live – and very rock ‘n’ roll – shows. Soon people could be seen sporting rabbit ears and grooving along to Rabbit tracks in places ranging from California desert shindig Coachella to London’s Wireless Festival.
With the buzz building to a roar – not to mention all the bunny hopping – it didn’t take long for Tinseltown to notice the group’s music. GR tunes soon began to turn up all over the TV dial on shows like CBS’ “CSI,” NBC’s “Life,” Showtime’s “Crash” and FX’s “Sons of Anarchy.”
Which brings us back to 2010, with Gram Rabbit preparing to launch a brand new plan for world domination with some help from newest member, drummer Hayden Scott (Adam Freeland), and a brand new creative team behind the scenes.
On Miracles & Metaphors (which was helmed by Allen), the alchemical process that began all those years ago among the sagebrush and cactus comes to fruition on tracks like the hypnotic “Falling Debris,” the guitar-driven, spaghetti noir scorcher “Hyena,” the Go-Gos-meets-Split-Enz exuberance of “Off With Your Head,” and the album’s raucous call to party – something fans have come to expect on every new GR album – “Candy Flip.”
The band’s female vocal powerhouse (and resident goddess), Jesika von Rabbit said Gram Rabbit’s ability to move smoothly from one style to the next, on record as well as on stage, comes naturally and makes perfect sense in today’s world.
“We just can’t help being that way,” von Rabbit admitted. “And in this day of kids downloading songs and putting them on their iPods, everything’s always on shuffle.”
“It gives us more creative range. And we want to make records that people will listen to from start to finish. In today’s world, this is the way to do it.”
